Triple-Marker Screening Program Shows High Detection Rate for Down Syndrome

The triple-marker prenatal screening program used in California can detect 77.4% of Down syndrome cases with a screen-positive rate of 5.4%, according to a report in the July issue of Obstetrics and Gynecology. That is a greater rate than in prior studies looking at triple-marker screening, in which detection rates have not exceeded 74%.
